Senior Data Center Computer Operator in Boston, MA

Reports to: Operations Supervisor, Global Operations

Summary

As a Senior Data Center Computer Operator, you will work as part of a multi-shift environment, supporting 7x24x365 operations.
Duties/Responsibilities

Monitor systems and perform troubleshooting to maintain high service levels
Schedule jobs and process scheduled jobs
Perform backups and restores of files and files systems on Solaris and Windows operating systems

You must possess the following qualities:

Willing to work on the night shift (13 1/2 hours daily, 3x weekly), on weekends, and/or on a floating schedule
Excellent organization, verbal, presentation, and written communications skills
Strong delivery focus, multi-tasking capabilities, and ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, with little supervision
Willing and able to travel the short 30-mile distance between our two primary locations, if needed

Experience: Required Background/Experience

5+ years experience in a multi-platform computer operator position
Proven track record demonstrating progress and increasing responsibility
Working knowledge and experience with:

Scheduling systems - Tivoli Work Scheduler (TWS) and Maestro Job Scheduler
Sun Solaris and Microsoft Windows
Backup and Recovery software (such as CommVault or NetBackup)
Monitoring Systems such as HP OpenView, Tivoli, BMC Patrol, or CA Unicenter



Major Pluses to have

Knowledge of industry standards and practices of a multi platform data center
Working knowledge and experience with:

Unix
Cluster management software such as Veritas Cluster Service or VMWare
