Systems Analyst in Boston, MA

Systems Analyst-Direct HireResponsibilities:* Responsible for managing and maintaining the backup infrastructure for the facility and its remote job sites.* Primary responsibility to setup and travel to remote sites as needed. Out of state travel could be as high as 15%* Monitors systems usage and performance.* Automates administration tasks to address problem areas and enhance system performance.* Installs and tests the latest OS releases and third party software. * Develops, implements, and maintains operating standards, procedures and controls.* Ensures systems are up to the latest OS and patch levels and manages the deployment system* Analyzes user requirements to make recommendations, and develops standards and operational procedures.* Installs and tests security packages software.* Participates in change management planning sessions* Researches and evaluates impact of new products and services on current systems and environments. * Acts as project leader for system implementations.* May be a team leader.* Mentors others* Interactions will involve recommending and persuading.* Responsible for maintaining a professional and positive relationship with other groups such as applications management and help desk staff* Requires leadership skills. Ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams.* Requires the ability to diffuse potentially difficult situations and facilitate solutions agreeable to multiple parties.* Effectively interacts across organizational, geographical, and cultural boundaries.* External contact may include vendor management.* Works on complex issues which may involve the coordination of multiple groups to include database, network, desktop, and applications.* Focus is on the improvement and enhancement of systems.* Completes moderately complex scripts, or very complex scripts with some guidance. * Plays a lead role in a set of related systems.* Can accept various types of assignments with the focus on getting the job done* Assignments may involve high risk, high exposure, or have a major impact on a critical business operation.* Understands the business goals, objectives, strategy and direction* Independently solves complex problems involving remote and elusive symptoms. Qualifications:* Bachelor's degree related to computer science, business or information systems with at least 7 years of system experience or equivalent combination of education and experience* Strong working knowledge of network operating systems, commands, and facilities.* Strong working knowledge of system and database monitoring utilities.* Strong working knowledge of backup products and facilities.* Strong working knowledge of the different applications and how they work on each platform.* Good to strong working knowledge of at least one system programming language.* Good working knowledge of security software and facilities.* Good working knowledge of desktop operating systems.* Good working knowledge of, and the ability to identify and resolve most problems involving LAN, WAN, and network protocols.* Previous experience in implementing network technologies.* Previous experience in evaluating and testing new software and hardware products prior to implementation.* Demonstrated ability to foresee problems and propose solutions prior to releasing any new product or service. * Ability to lead special projects with wide impact; proven project management skills.Preferred Technical Experience:Windows 2000Windows 2003 ServerWindows XPLinuxApple OS/XCisco VoIP ProductsExchange 2003EMC Clarion Storage ProductsEMC CenteraEMC CelerraEMC Disk ExtenderEMC Email ExtenderThere are 4 people in this team. Experience: -BA-7+ years of systems experience or combo of education and work experience MUST HAVE-Windows 2003, XP-Exchange 2003-EMC products (the more the better) Clariion, Centera, Applicationxtender, Celerra
