In addition to the Business, Medical, and Technical markets, McGraw-Hill Professional is a publishing and content leader in Education and Test Prep and in Consumer categories such as health and self-help.   McGraw-Hill Professional has an exciting opportunity for a Technical Project Lead based in our Boston office.   The Technical Project Lead will work with the Product group in a variety of client projects through the product life cycle; define custom solutions, and provide technical expertise to clients and the sales team.   Essential Accountabilities:   Development Build high-performance, scalable, robust web applications using leading edge tools, processes, and products. Enhance existing features, debug and correct system issues as well as implement minor change requests. Create accurate time estimates and consistently hit code complete deadlines. Provide technical expertise and guidance of database design to team members. Project Management Manage a variety of projects through the product life cycle, including implementing new client solutions and enhancing existing products. Work with developers to ensure projects are built to spec and provide input on ways to improve the products and/or to streamline the delivery time. Create a variety of project documentation, including statements of work, use cases, project requirements, Project Plans (to organize tasks, assignments, timing and reviews-ensure business requirements are implemented correctly, on time and within budget). Quality Control Work with QA the team to develop test scenarios and cases. Help the QA team to rapidly diagnose application issues and determine appropriate responses to said issues. Support clients by helping to determine quick resolutions to any issues or requests. Bachelor's degree Must have experience managing multiple projects/software releases. Must have extensive project experience and be capable to effectively and quickly leverage that experience to create solutions and solve problems. Strong development background with 3-6 years experience developing in Java and 3 or more years experience with Java-based server side packages (JSP, Tag Libraries, JMS, etc). Strong knowledge of Spring, Hibernate, Velocity and related frameworks. Experience in database design and with Oracle (PL/SQL). Significant development experience in a Unix/Linux environment. Experience with open source tools and applications, and familiarity with open source development standards and life cycles. Experience with JavaScript, AJAX, and SOAP as well as with SOA and XML related standards. S trong communications skills (presentation and documentation) and interpersonal skills. Ability to quickly gain in-depth knowledge about our products and provide estimates on custom product requests.   The McGraw-Hill Companies is an equal opportunity employer.
