Sr. System Engineer in BOSTON, MA

The Senior System Engineer is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the server and storage infrastructure. This includes the establishment of best practices and procedures to ensure the optimal level of performance, availability and recoverability of all facets of the corporation’s Microsoft Windows server and EMC Storage based environment. This position requires the ability to work independently and in a team-based environment to achieve prescribed goals and objectives.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Maintenance, administration and monitoring of the Microsoft Windows / HP Proliant server environment
• Administration and expansion of the VMware Infrastructure 3 server environment
• Integration, maintenance, performance tuning, capacity planning, and administration of EMC CX700 / CX3, EMC Centera and Cisco MDS switches
• Implement and maintain the optimal data replication and server recovery solutions to attain the disaster recovery and high availability goals of the corporation
• Optimize the server infrastructure monitoring system to maintain consistently high levels of system uptime
• Communicate clearly and effectively with the business units by identifying technology needs and recommending solutions
• Design, implementation and overall management of projects for new enterprise level applications involving multiple tiers, high availability, disaster recovery and stringent performance requirements
• Assume secondary support responsibilities for tape backup, Microsoft Exchange, IIS, SQL Server and Active Directory related issues and projects
• Collaborate with the Infrastructure team in the troubleshooting and resolution of escalated server, messaging and application related issues

Experience: Job Requirements:
&#149; Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience.
&#149; 5 years of experience in a Microsoft environment, preferably in an enterprise systems environment
&#149; 3 years of experience with EMC Clariion, Navisphere management and Cisco MDS storage director
&#149; 3 years of experience with VMWare technology
&#149; Server infrastructure performance and system health monitoring experience preferred
&#149; Working knowledge of data replication technologies (MirrorView, SANCopy, SnapView, Replistor, DoubleTake software) preferred
&#149; HP Proliant Servers (DL and BL series), HP Systems Insight Manger, EMC Clariion, EMC Centera, Symantec / Veritas NetBackup, Windows clustering and data center design / build out experience preferred
&#149; Linux and Solaris experience a plus
&#149; Understanding of ITIL methodology
&#149; Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
&#149; Demonstrated project management skills and ability to work within predefined guidelines related to change control and compliance requirements
