CDI is in HOT/IMMEDIATE need for a Lan Manager.
LAN Manager responsibilities:
Single Point of Contacts (SPOC's) at Mega Centers that will initiate or join application outage conf bridges on behalf of the Center. LAN Managers provide first level technical support to users of computer systems.
As the L&DS representative with the most first hand knowledge of systems in use at a site, and the person who interacts the most with users, the Lan Manager plays a critical role in achieving L&DS and IT operating goals.
These goals include:
Maximizing the availability and reliability of distributed processing systems and or customer servers.
Maximizing customer satisfaction with the service delivery process.
The LAN Manager manages distributed LAN resources (servers, workstations and peripherals) and serves as the primary point of contact for problems reported by users of computer systems.
Lan Manager job functions can be classified in four general job categories:
Problem management
Change management
Operations management
Service level management
LAN Manager problem management responsibilities include:
Serving as the primary point of contact for problems reported by users.
Opening, updating, routing and closing trouble tickets for all reported L&DS problems and user requests.
Resolving basic user issues (access problems, printing difficulties, etc) without the involvement of higher level support personnel
Escalating and referring problems (via CMIS) that meet defined severity level criteria and/or cannot be solved locally.
Serving as a point of contact for technical support staff (including ADNMs, Big NOS/Notes, End User Computing Services (EUCS) , CTS, etc.) during problem resolution.
Performing proactive problem management activities (work area tours)
Lan Manager responsibilities in the Change Management process include:
Implementing routine changes (software upgrades, configuration changes, etc.) in accordance with appropriate change control procedures.
Change control procedures apply to all changes that will (or could) impact system availability or reliability. LAN Managers must ensure that such changes occur only with the approval of the person responsible for change control at their site.
Maintenance of local change documentation.
Coordinating moves and changes affecting LAN based hardware.
Providing on site support for electronic software distributions, where applicable.
Lan Manager Operations Management responsibilities include:
Managing the LAN in accordance with recommendations/directives from policy making areas. This includes:
LAN Managers are responsible for compliance with relevant corporate security policies (i.e. virus protection, physical access to LAN rooms, password aging, etc.)
All LAN Managers who serve as Notes Administrators are responsible for following guidelines issued by End User Computing Services (EUCS) Notes Support.
LAN Managers who serve as Windows NT Administrators are responsible for adhering to guidelines issued by End User Computing Services (EUCS) Product Support.
LAN Managers at Workcenter and other sites running End User Computing Services (EUCS) approved platforms are responsible for operating the LAN according to guidelines issued by End User Computing Services (EUCS) End User Computing Services (EUCS) Engineering Procedures.
Maintaining site documentation (operations work plan, floor layouts, contact lists, IP Address/Workstation ID lists, etc.)
Managing ESD Downloads (Applies to sites that receive an ESD Download only)
Providing download data to ESD
Verify pre-distribution of images to workstations
Resolve distribution fallout
Coordinating with CTS for pristine re-imaging
Follow up with customer after completion to verify acceptance
Managing user access to LAN based systems including but not restricted to Big Notes and Big NOS requests (i.e. new user id's, workstations ID's, home directories, shares)
Managing the backup, verification and restoration processes of supported servers
Performs appropriate and timely preventative maintenance routines (i.e. reboots, raid synchs, etc.) as well as applying of directed hardware/software upgrades and fixes.
The Lan Manager is responsible for the following customer service activities at his/her site(s).
Providing continuous coverage (personal or through designated backup)
Being responsive to reported problems while effectively prioritizing potential troubles with the greatest user/customer impact.
Keeping users and user management well informed about the status of their problems
Maintaining a highly visible presence
Understanding customer needs
Projecting a professional demeanor
Assisting customers in the preparation of ICR's for PC and LAN related work.
Other Responsibilities:
The following responsibilities may apply depending on the location and/or the terms agreed upon with the customer.
