Position: Systems Administrator
Location: 200 Clarendon Street Boston, MA 02116
6 month contract to hire
ASAP Start 8am - 5pm hours

BASIC PURPOSE/FUNCTION:
The Systems Administrator will directly support and manage (OM) technology infrastructure by proactively administering and optimizing networks, servers, computer hardware/software, applications, data storage, data archiving, backup/recovery, disaster recovery and security solutions. The OM technology enterprise includes MS Windows 2003, MS Exchange 2003 (Cluster), Active Directory, Cisco LAN/WAN devices, Citrix and numerous business applications. This position also serves as a technical liaison with vendors and OM affiliates and provides technical consultancy to affiliates across various projects. Specifically, the Systems Administrator will be responsible for the following areas:

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:% of Time

Ensure seamless 7x24 operations for mission critical applications, servers, networks and associated devices. Maximize hardware and software systems availability and minimize outages by responding quickly and effectively. Ensure optimal hardware and software system performance. Resolve quickly all operational issues; identify root causes, research and test solutions and document findings. Proactively respond to growing cpu or storage requirements. Proactively respond to software releases, version updates, log file entries, security-related updates and issues and react swiftly to emergent vulnerabilities. Ensure day-to-day server, desktop and change management issues are documented, reported and executed in a timely manner. 40%

Enterprise Application Support
Provide support and maintenance for business applications including, Blackberry Enterprise
Server, Exchange, VMWare, Citrix Metaframe and advanced features, RSA, etc.10%

Oversee the LAN/WAN environment consisting of Blackberry Enterprise Server, RSA, Citrix, VPN, Cisco routers, Cisco switches, and multiple T1 and MPLS circuits. Work with consultants and vendors in the management of PIX firewalls, Symantec Antivirus and Symantec IDS/IPS. 10%

Evaluate and integrate products and functionality that increase overall capabilities or automates manual tasks. Identify best product and practices, make recommendations and plan implementation efforts. Execute service requests; ensuring end user satisfaction and consistently providing service excellence. Oversee virus protection updates, hardware and software warranties, licenses and inventories. Participate in the development, documentation and implementation of monthly metrics tracking and reporting. 10%

Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery
Participate in the formulation and implementation of disaster recovery systems, planning and testing, ensuring efficient recovery strategies are in place. Work to provide increased hi-availability and redundancy of critical corporate resources using technologies that include DoubleTake and VMWare. Support OM and OM affiliate firm's Disaster Recovery operations in Boston and Denver. 5%

Provide technical consultancy to affiliates in a mixed technology environment including, dell, ibm, Sonicwall. Provide technical expertise across various projects interfacing with various groups within the organization. Recommend, size, and configure hardware and software solutions that meet the technology and business needs of affiliate firms. 15%

PRIOR WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
8 to 10 Years

NECESSARY SKILL SET:
1. Professional maturity, strong interpersonal, communication, multi-tasking and technical project management skills and be able to work well in a dynamic, team oriented environment
2. Excellent customer service skills and organizational skills
3. Superior trouble-shooting capabilities (hardware, software, applications, OS)
4. In-depth knowledge and experience with MS Windows 2003, MS Exchange 2003, LAN/WAN technologies, MS Office Applications, Cisco networking products, remote access solutions and security/firewall technology
5. A minimum of eight to ten years professional experience in high-performing technical service/operations environments. An undergraduate degree in management information systems, computer science or business related
