IT Support Specialist in BOSTON, MA

One of our clients in the Financial District of Boston has an immediate need within their IT group for an IT Support Specialist. The IT Support Specialist is responsible for monitoring production jobs that are run through out the day and taking the appropriate action in the event of a job failure; providing support to the help desk; ghosting PC’s and laptops; and deploying PC’s to new users. The candidate should also have the ability to manage a large number of short-term, interrupt driven tasks while simultaneously maintaining some level of work on other long-term projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Install, configure, and maintain Windows NT workstations and servers in the corporate, development, and production environments.
• Maintain a standard desktop throughout the organization
• Monitoring autosys (job scheduler)
• Resolve job fails in autosys
• Ghosting PC’s and Laptops
• Deploying PC’s on an as needed basis
• First level of help desk support
• Troubleshoot problems and determining the correct solution
• Ensure that all files are received before nightly processing takes place
• Contact vendors if there is a problem with a file that is needed for a production job
• Run monthly reports
• Ability to work independently on the second shift
• Inventory PC’s, Blackberry’s, Phones, Monitors, etc. (all hardware)
• Keeping spare PC’s on network hub available at all times in the event of a user’s hard drive malfunctioning
• Update procedures annually and as needed through Procedures Application on Intranet.
• Manage responsibilities pertaining to business continuity preparedness, documentation, DR site visits, etc.

Experience: QUALIFICATIONS:
&#149; Minimum of 2 years work experience administrating Windows systems
&#149; Solid understanding of TCP/IP routing and networking
&#149; UNIX experience preferred
