Systems Administrator in BOSTON, MA

Our client has an immediate need (due to growth) for a Systems Administrator.

The Systems Administrator will be responsible for the IT infrastructure by administering and optimizing networks, servers, computer hardware/software, applications, data storage, data archiving, backup/recovery, disaster recovery and security solutions.

The following areas are the major areas of responsibility:

Infrastructure Support:
Ensure seamless 7x24 operations for mission critical applications, servers, networks and associated devices. Maximize hardware and software systems availability and minimize outages by responding quickly and effectively. Ensure optimal hardware and software system performance. Resolve quickly all operational issues; identify root causes, research and test solutions and document findings. Proactively respond to growing cpu or storage requirements. Proactively respond to software releases, version updates, log file entries, security-related updates and issues and react swiftly to emergent vulnerabilities. Ensure day-to-day server, desktop and change management issues are documented, reported and executed in a timely manner. Act as an escalation point for the Support Desk team.

Network Support
Oversee the LAN/WAN environment consisting of Blackberry Enterprise Server, RSA, Citrix, VPN, Cisco routers, Cisco switches, and multiple T1 and MPLS circuits. Work with consultants and vendors in the management of PIX firewalls, Symantec Antivirus and Symantec IDS/IPS.

Hardware and Software Support
Evaluate and integrate products and functionality that increase overall capabilities or automates manual tasks. Identify best product and practices, make recommendations and plan implementation efforts. Execute service requests; ensuring end user satisfaction and consistently providing service excellence. Oversee virus protection updates, hardware and software warranties, log files, licenses and inventories. Participate in the development, documentation and implementation of monthly metrics tracking and reporting.<br/><br/>All applicants applying for U.S. job openings must be authorized to work in the United States. Experience: Must have experience with the following technology:
MS Windows 2003 , MS Exchange 2003 (Cluster) , Active Directory , Cisco LAN/WAN devices , Citrix and numerous business applications.
