McGraw-Hill Professional has an outstanding opportunity for a Senior Graphic/Web Designer within our Financial Communications department, based in our Boston , MA office . The Senior Graphic/Web Designer oversees creative direction of three primary areas: new and existing print publications; new and existing digital products; and internal marketing, branding, and collateral for S&P Financial Communications. Essential Accountabilities include: Oversee creative direction for all design projects. This requires a thorough knowledge of branding and marketing objectives for each client, and the application of these objectives to both print and digital projects. Oversee design quality of all products, both printed and digital from concept through production/implementation. Ensure that design intent is preserved through all project implementation phases. Manage a team of designers, deploy and allocate resources, provide hands on design input, and coordinate projects with cross-departmental teams. Collaborate with the editorial department to deliver the highest quality products that enhance each project's business and creative goals. Function as the key designer for digital projects, creating wireframes, concept mockups and creating a compelling visual design that supports the product requirements. Provide though-leadership on web design best practices and next-generation digital trends while maintaining a user-centered design focus. Work with the marketing team to create collateral material and other sales materials, including banner ads, trade show materials, postcards, etc. Work collaboratively with the technology team to ensure that designs are both technically feasible and incorporate creative ways to dynamically display content. Provide web design leadership throughout the company, and be a spokesperson for the end-user throughout the product design process. Maintain regular communications with Director of Product Design regarding staffing, client issues, schedules and potential resource-issues. The ideal candidate will posses : 6 years minimum experience in art direction. Ability to provide creative leadership on both print and digital design projects. A solid understanding of typography, color, composition, hierarchy and how these elements work together to design solutions. Exceptional conceptual thinker, able to create innovative designs that meet specific target audience, client, technology and product requirements. Deadline-oriented, flexible, organized and able to handle multiple priorities. Must have thorough knowledge of Quark Xpress (or InDesign), Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator, preferably using Macintosh. Experience designing web applications, with a solid understanding of information design, user-interface best practices, and the constraints of designing for online vs. offline products. Experience using HTML and CSS to design web pages/applications. Some experience using Flash is a plus. Ability to build brand identity, advise on marketing strategies, and provide overall design support on a variety of projects. Meticulous attention to detail. BA/BS in human-factors, interaction design, graphic design, information design or an art degree is a plus. Prior experience in the financial industry is a plus.
