In addition to the Business, Medical, and Technical markets, McGraw-Hill Professional is a publishing and content leader in Education and Test Prep and in Consumer categories such as health and self-help.   McGraw-Hill Professional has an exciting opportunity for a  UI Architect  based in our Boston office.   The UI Architect  will work with the Product Design Team to develop applications that entice, educate and keep our clients and their clients coming back.  This role will collaborate with the design and development teams as well as the product manager to develop a rich customer experience.   Essential Accountability Development a?? Work with development team to build out the look, feel, and flow of our web-based applications. a?? Develop and maintain internal user interface frameworks and libraries as well as the supporting documentation. a?? Maintain and update CSS/HTML templates to ensure consistency, accuracy and compliance with required standards. a?? Work closely with the development team to ensure front end design elements meet strict performance and security standards. Design a?? Work closely with development engineers, designers and product managers throughout all stages of the product cycle. a?? Create task analyses, use cases, mock-ups, user interaction models, wire frames, mock-ups and prototypes, design specs and guidelines, and screen flows with little direction a?? Help define the user model and user interface for new and existing products and features. a?? Gauge the usability of new and existing products, and making constructive suggestions for change. a?? Bachelor Degree required a?? Deep understanding of user centered interactive design philosophies and methodologies. a?? 2+ years of web design experience. a?? HTML mastery including thorough knowledge of cross-browser compatibility issues and XHTML. a?? CSS mastery (minimum CSS2). a?? Strong JavaScript experience including Ajax, DHTML, and JSON. a?? Experience with DOJO scripting libraries and Flash. a?? Thorough understanding of web technologies and trends along with best of breed interface solutions. a?? Results, detail oriented individual with a team-player attitude.  Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams. a?? Strong time management skills and ability to work under pressure in order to meet time-sensitive deadlines and manage several assignments simultaneously. a?? Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in order to communicate clearly and effectively with clients, designers, and developers. a?? Experience with open source tools and applications, and familiarity with open source development standards and life cycles. a?? Some knowledge of Spring, Hibernate, Velocity and related frameworks. a?? Experience using source code control software and bug tracking software. a?? Experience in conducting usability studies and translating the findings into actionable recommendations is a plus
