Sales Engineer in Boston, MA

The Sales Engineer is a new business development technical position. The role is to facilitate the sales process of the Rogue Wave family of products to customers and prospects in a particular geographical area. A proven ability to interface with developers, managers and executives is required. Credible skill with the Java and C++ language, and experience in enterprise application development is also required. The sales engineer will assist in the sales development process through product expertise, including technical presentations, demonstrations, assisting in proposal creation, helping customers with evaluations, and periodically providing on-site Rogue Wave technical assistance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provide technical expertise and assistance to territory and account strategies.
- Establish key technical contacts in major accounts.
- Provide technical qualification for sales opportunities for all current Rogue Wave products and consulting.
- Assist sales in lead generation activities such as limited training, lunch and learns, executive breakfasts, speaking engagements at user's groups, and post sales follow ups.
- Provide product marketing with customer feedback.
- Gather key customer requirements quarterly to identify current and future trends.
- Act as primary liaison between sales, consulting, and development.
- Travel to customer sites as required. Reasonable and reliable transportation required for local travel.
- Provide superior customer service and satisfaction to all internal and external customers.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

- Good knowledge of C++, Java, XML, SOAP and object oriented and services oriented design.
- Solid understanding of how technology and business integrates in a vertical market segment.
- Good understanding of enterprise application integration.
- Ability to interact with a wide range of technical and business customers.
- Good working knowledge of cross platform development.
- Ability to identify technical issues as sales opportunities.
- Ability to present confidently to all levels of technical customers.
- Knowledge of sales practice and methodologies such as solution selling a plus.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- BS or equivalent is required. Computer Science or other engineering/science degree preferred.
- 5-7 years experience in software development, 3-5 years experience in object oriented systems development in either C++ or Java, and applied C++/Java experience.
