As a Senior Oracle 10g RAC DBA, you will be a key member of the Data Technologies group. You must possess strong technical depth, leadership skills, organizational influence, and the ability to effectively express ideas both verbally and in writing to all levels of staff. You will have a firm understanding of the financial industry as well as a firm grasp of information system technologies and architectures. Projects include 10g validation this year and 10g upgrade next year along with RMAN and DataGuard strategy projects. You will largely influence these projects.

Reports to: Manager - Data Technologies Group

Duties/Responsibilities

Gather technical requirements from business specifications
Design solutions in logical and physical contexts
Make tuning and complexity tradeoffs
Define, improve, and upgrade existing Oracle 9i/10g database architectures and practices in a cross-platform, multi-database environment
24x7 on-call production support
Assist and direct staff in resolving production issues
Design and architect complex, distributed, highly transactional database systems, including specification of hardware and storage infrastructure requirements
Product support for application and database deployment of upgrades and patch releases
Interface with both technology as well as business peers

Experience: Required Background/Experience

Advanced degree in Computer Science or related discipline
10+ years experience as an Oracle Database Administrator supporting enterprise-class Oracle database environments
5+ years Oracle RAC experience
Expert-level production experience with Oracle 10g
Experience in the design and architecture of complex, distributed, highly transactional database systems, including specification of hardware and storage infrastructure requirements
Experience supporting distributed global databases in a multi-server, multi-location environment
Expert-level PL/SQL and Database Server performance tuning skills
Experience designing and implementing High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions using Oracle technologies
Knowledge of product support for applications and database deployment of upgrades and patch releases
Experience supporting multiple development teams simultaneously
Experience with advanced technologies such as 10gR2, Replication, OLAP, HTML-DB, and ETL across diversified platforms
Experience performing upgrades from 9i to 10g
Experience working with DataGuard,Flashback (table/version query), DataPump, ASM, and Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM 10g), including the grid and monitoring control

Major Pluses to have

Oracle 9i or 10g Certification
Financial Services background
Experience migrating Oracle from Solaris to AIX
