As a Software Development Manager, you will work closely with our investment team and lead the software development of our advanced suite of fixed-income portfolio-management and decision-support applications.You will have overall development responsibility for large projects handled by our Fixed-Income Systems Team, which include the Fixed Income Portfolio Management Tool and the Currency Workstation. The Fixed Income Systems Team is responsible for providing front-office Information Services capabilities to our fixed-income portfolio-management and research analyst teams and plays a critical role in our success by providing technology solutions which improve the quality, speed, and efficiency of a highly complex investment decision-making process. The tools we develop contribute to our investment performance and differentiate us from our competitors in the financial industry.

Reports to: Senior Manager of Fixed Income Systems



The resume of the Ideal Candidate would reflect the following:



  • Experience managing a team of at least 15 developers, analysts, and QA engineers (both permanent and contract resources)


  • You are currently working or have worked for a


    • Fixed-income sell or buy side company


    • ISV that sells and supports Fixed Income applications


    • System consulting firm that has a heavy focus on fixed-income front-office development and implementation projects






Duties/Responsibilities



  • Oversight of the technical design,implementation, testing, deployment, and support of our proprietary fixed-income portfolio-management and investment decision-support tools


  • Team management responsibilities, including the direct supervision of approximately 15 developers, analysts, and quality assurance engineers


  • Active participation in the business requirements gathering process, including a high-degree of client interaction

Experience: Required Background/Experience



  • 10+ years of hands-on development experience in a commercial environment


  • 5+ years of experience managing software development teams including hiring, termination, and the delivery of performance reviews


  • Experience leading a team of J2EE or C# developers


  • A solid understanding of J2EE application development technologies


  • Experience developing complex financial applications


  • Solid understanding of fixed income, trading, valuation, analytics, and related investment processes


  • Knowledge of software development and testing methodologies and their effective application




Major Pluses to have



  • Knowledge of derivative instruments
