Data Analyst in Boston, MA

Provides business systems and applications analysis in support of the development of new business applications. Includes evaluation, analysis, documentation of requirements, and translation into proper system requirement specifications' Formulates and defines systems scope and objectives based on both end-user needs and a thorough understanding of business systems, applications and industry requirements. Conducts need and gap analysis and provides technical expertise in identifying, evaluating and developing systems and procedures that are cost effective and meet user requirements.

Ensures that documentation is updated when change requests are approved for the project. Maintains a good level of expertise with appropriate system documentation tools. Develops detailed implementation and upgrade project plans in conjunction with other account team associates.

Classifies problems as system, training, or process and recommends corrections. Reviews system test plans and system tests modules before implementation and reviews end-user documentation (user guide, process flow charts, and training materials) for accuracy. Facilitates user acceptance workshops to identify requirements for acceptance test plans. Works with the user to select or create appropriate scenarios to test all results to determine whether system changes met project specifications; uses scenarios to assist the end user in acceptance testing. Operates as a liaison between technical personnel and the appropriate end-user department. Evaluates and translates end user needs and problems to technical associates. Teaches end users new technology and enhancements using all appropriate communication tools as well as providing support for existing system procedures. In upgrades, monitors production performance enhancements and system integrity with end-users.

Typically, the Senior Specialist level leads large scale corporate-wide or complex business systems and application upgrades and installations. Evaluates user requirements for one or more specialized business applications and translates those needs into defined user assessment plans used in determining end-user or technical needs. Defines cost and time estimates for implementation projects. Develops project plans, user acceptance test plans, and communication plans for knowledge transfer to end-user. Creates business process flow charts for customer and technical review. Works with an assigned technical team of programmers and developers to ensure user needs are met. Monitors and provides direction to lower level team members. Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
Experience: This position is the highest level individual contributor and requires 8+ years experience in a high tech environment in Technical or Business Application Analysis or equivalent combination of experience and education.
