Application Project Manager Lifecycle, MS Project, Oracle, UML in Boston, MA

We currently have an Application Project Manager contract open in Boston. You will be responsible for leading cross-business unit project teams through all phases of the project lifecycle. Start: ASAP Duration: 3+ Months Compensation: Market Summary: This multi-tasking individual will define and manage projects at the task level for concurrent projects. This includes providing leadership to the project teams in order to establish accurate and comprehensive project plans, defining deliverables, as well as managing issue resolution and escalation. Team building, Scope Management and Schedule Management are all vitally important skills in this position. Responsibilities: ? Manage the full project lifecycle from scope through rollout ? Develop detailed project plans and schedules ? Prepare, manage and report on overall project schedule and budget ? Provide a weekly status report for management highlighting issues and concerns that may jeopardize project schedules ? Recommend alternatives and solutions to recover when behind schedule ? Coordinate day-to-day activities required to deliver an excellent product on time ? Respond to issues and monitor progress to ensure timely completion ? Ensure effective communication between all members of the project team ? Interface and work competently with all groups within the company including, but not limited to, Business and Client Development, Loan Operations, Customer Service, Finance, and Information Technology ? Insure all deliverables are at an acceptable level of quality before proceeding to the next phase ? Develop and maintain a productive working relationship with all business users as well as any third party service providers/vendors that are integral to the project delivery ? Provide post-release analysis of what can be improved in the process for the future ? Provides project reviews to all Information Technology team members ? Responsible for establishing procedures, processes, and milestones while working with management staff to resource projects accordingly ? Provide technical leadership as needed to manage systems engineering risks Qualifications: ? 3 to 5 years of Project Management experience. ? Experience managing projects across functional lines ? Experience w/ Oracle, Informatics, UML and Websphere a plus ? Excellent verbal/written communications skills ? Thorough understanding of software development lifecycle methodologies and processes ? Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously ? Possess strong leadership, interpersonal, team building and motivational skills ? Capable of multi tasking, remaining flexible and managing time effectively ? Be a "self-starter" able to respond to rapid change within the business ? Able to develop both long and short term plans ? Experience with Workflow a strong plus. ? Experience with Microsoft Project ? Working knowledge of the Project Management Institute (PMI) Guide and the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) essential. ? Knowledge of systems and processes relating to student loan industry also a plus ? Prior workflow experience required.
