Data Warehouse Developer - NewMMIS Data Integration Project Responsibilities Works at a specialist level and specifically for the NewMMIS Data Integration Project, and is responsible for the development and maintenance of data warehouse application programs; develops databases using Oracle or SQL; writes extract programs; automates load and data acquisition processes; codes and documents scripts and stored procedures; develops appropriate programs and systems documentation; assists with metadata repository data management; creates index and view scripts. ? Develop Oracle database centric applications according to analyst-defined specifications. ? Assume independent responsibility for specific modules / sub-projects within the framework of the larger warehouse initiative. ? Provide data modeling expertise to applications being developed within the HHS warehouse framework. ? Work with the architect and development lead to implement version control procedures and standards. ? Participate in the review of new candidates for positions within the group as needed. ? Conduct technical training sessions on the design of backend schemas for report developers. ? Develop Perl/shell scripts and deploy applications in the production environment at ITD. ? Develop programs using Informatica ETL tool and Oracle to support Federal Reporting requirements to be satisfied from the Data Warehouse. ? Work in multiple roles including analyst (to analyze and review mainframe code: Cobol, Natural), tester and programmer (Perl, Shell, C, Oracle); ? Work on several high priority projects at the same time; ? Define the scope, objectives and deliverables of projects including the review of user requests and participate in decisions regarding project and direction with minimal intervention from the Team Leader; ? Work in a team environment; ? Work in a 24 x 7 environment, requiring mandated on-call rotation Required The candidate should have at least 5-6 years of experience in business intelligence area. Strong SQL skills are required. A thorough knowledge of Data Warehouse principles and techniques and Business Intelligence experience is needed. Ability to work with Cognos in both the UNIX and Windows environment. Strong communications skills and a demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team. Preferred Solid grasp of the requirements gathering process preferred. Experience working with large, multi-terabyte Data Warehouse environments is preferred. Knowledge of UNIX shell scripting and Windows systems administration is preferred. Experience with Medicaid or Health care data would be beneficial.
