Job Summary

The primary functions of this position include project management, client management, and team leadership. The Sr. Associate, Program Management is expected to play a variety of project support and team leadership roles while developing the skills and experience necessary to become a Manager, Program Management. The most typical project roles for the Sr. Associate, Program Management are Track Lead (TL), which usually consists of leading sub-tracks of work (3-8 people) as part of a larger project, and Assistant Project Manager (APM), which entails supporting project managers with day-to-day project leadership activities.

The Sr. Associate, Program Management position requires problem solving skills, solid verbal and written communication skills, basic project management and client management skills, team leadership skills and strong organizational and detail-orientation skills. In performing the essential functions of this role, the work environment is fast-paced, moderately noisy and team-based. Additionally, frequent overnight travel is required.

Key Responsibilities:

Assists Project Managers with day-to-day project management tasks or leads small and mid-sized tracks/projects. Develops and tracks project plans for individual tracks of work (as part of a larger project plan). Establishes and maintains communications for project track. Oversees track estimations. Oversees the development of track deliverables. Establishes and maintains processes to manage scope of work for track. Identifies and manages track issues and risks. Communicates track status, risks and issues to project leadership

Leads teams of 3-8 individuals. Provides purpose, direction and motivation to team. Clarifies and communicates track objectives and success criteria. Ensures key track roles and responsibilities are defined. Ensures a positive, collaborative working environment for the team. Manages third-party partner and/or vendor relationships, as necessary

Assists Project Managers in managing client relationships and preparing for client meetings. Plans and executes client workshops. Develops relationships with appropriate client stakeholders. Provides day-to-day contact for client on track related communications

Participates in, and assists with, company events such as hiring, training and internal initiatives. Contributes to the ongoing development of the Program Management Domain and community at Sapient. Actively shares knowledge and lessons learned from project experiences

Job Requirements:

Bachelor's degree required; 2-3 years project management experience, preferably in a client-service organization; Demonstrated leadership capability and/or potential (prior leadership experience with teams of 3 or more people preferred); Knowledge of and/or experience in software development and internet industries preferred; Ability to effectively work with project teams and clients; Proficient in Word, Excel, Powerpoint and MS Project; knowledge of Visio
