DataWarehouse Developer(SQL Server) in Boston, MA


73960 The Database Developer is responsible for the design, development and maintenance of the data warehouse using programming languages such as SQL, MDX, and Visual Studio. The incumbent will be working with the latest Microsoft Technology platforms to develop the Extract Transform Load (ETL), relational databases and multi-dimensional cubes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Collaborate with the IT reporting team to design, develop and implement the ETL, data models and multi-dimensional cubes.
Proficiently apply appropriate methodologies to support the creation and maintenance of reports to support customer requirements, ensuring the integrity of data and data feeds, identifying relationships between data.
Work with the IT reporting team to provide on-going support of existing warehouse as well as continually re-evaluate current processes and techniques for increased efficiency and maintainability.
Ensure completeness and compatibility of the technical infrastructure to support system performance, availability and architecture requirements.
Design Star Schema based data models for data warehouse projects.
Review and participate in testing of the data design, tool distinction, data extracts/transforms, network and hardware selections.
Provide detailed estimates of time for software development efforts.
Follow software development standards and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Expert in all aspects of the data warehousing technical components including designing an efficient, flexible, integrated and scalable ETL design and mappings to support OLAP applications including Business Intelligence and analytical tools.
Expert with Microsoft Analysis Services, maintaining DTS (Data Transformation Services) packages, Microsoft Reporting Services, working with Star Schemas, cubes and dimensions.
Experienced as a SQL Server 2000 Architect and experience with SQL Server 2005 a major plus.
Experience with the MDX language, Multi-Dimensional Expressions.
Experience in multi-dimensional, data analysis and data mining preferred.
Thorough knowledge of standard SQLserver DBA functions and practices.
Ability to estimate the database sizing and be able to recommend hardware requirements.
Programming languages: SQL, MDX. Visual Studio, and experience with ASP/ASP.NET a major plus.
Ability to implement security in the data warehouse and cubes.
Software Development Life Cycle knowledge and quality development methodology are essential.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

BS in Computer Science or related degree required.
Minimum of five (5) years experience with, and detailed knowledge of, data warehouse technical architectures, infrastructure components, ETL and Business Intelligence reporting/analytic tools and environments.
Participation in at least two data warehouse projects as a principal or physical architect.
