Web Designer in Boston, MA

Job Description: At a basic level the client is looking for a candidate that will design and bui ld web page components using a variety of graphics software applications, techni ques and tools. He/she will assist in development of user interface features, si te animation and special effects elements. He/she will design web site to suppor t the organization's goals relative to external communications. The position req uires working knowledge of HTML and other web site design-related applications a nd Internet/Lintranet development languages and protocols. Requirements: -Experience creating clean and well-formed HTML code -Web Development experience -Ability to learn quickly, especially from reading product documentation -Strong problem solving skills -Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills -Ability to work successfully both individually and in a team environment -Attention to detail and self-motivated Skills Needed: -Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel skills required -Knowledge of Macromedia Dreamweaver -Interwoven Teamsite experience -Web information architecture skills -Java and JSP Programming skills Information Architecture Tasks: -Examine content of previously existing web site(s) -Determine where each item of previously existing content should go to fit into the state's existing web portal architecture -Document recommended new locationsof all content items -Make recommendations to subject matter experts with state agencies on how to be st utilize the state's existing web technology to best present their web content -Work with subject matter experts within state agencies to determine final appro ved placement of all content items Content Creation Tasks: -Cut and paste existing content from existing web site to editor in Interwoven Teamsite -Cut and paste new content from Word or Excel documents to editor in Interwoven Teamsite -Edit HTML of content to conform to HTML standards, appear readable, and be acce ssible to blind and vision-impaired users -Post downloadable non-HTML content documents to specified locations on the web server -Enter information regarding content documents into the state's proprietary cont ent management application Menu Management Tasks: -Use state's proprietary content management application to: *Take down unwanted content items *Take down content items that have been incorrectly placed *Place content items in their correct locations on the meus of the state's port al system, according to the approved information architecture Business Tasks: -Provide weekly status reports detailing progress on assigned tasks -Attend monthly meetings regarding web technology in state government and provid e summaries of meeting information to coworkers -Review technical proposals regarding web technology to advise on their feasibil ity -Additional duties as assigned Apply directly at: ?r=gad To Apply to this job go to http://www.GadBall.com or click here
