SQL Server DBA in BOSTON, MA

London based consulting firm, a world leader in the life science industry, has a need for a full time SQL Server DBA for their Boston office. The company is preparing for a major implementation and will need the successful candidate to work along side the London based SQL Server DBAs. Presently the company is heavily involved in a server relocation from London to Boston and will also need assistance with upgrades to the new system. The successful candidate will take ownership of the core system installation and manage day to day operations of the company's new mission-critical Enterprise Global Management system. Issues will need to be tracked so that systems are continually improved and streamlined. The candidate will also be responsible to ensure the system routine systems checks are carried out, monitoring security and resolving systems issues. Planned future migration and development from various other ad hoc systems in this financial year will provide substantial opportunities for training and developing skills in the new systems, for example: extending the capabilities of the system to include portals, extranet capabilities and further development of internet-based solutions. Experience: * Minimum 3 years experience as a SQL Server DBA * IIS and Windows 2000/Active Directory skills (i.e. relating to client-access for the SQL environment). * 5 years experience in the IT systems field with practical understanding of TCP/IP and IP switches, LAN/ WAN, firewalls.
