Desktop Support Specialist in Boston, MA

Responsibilities include: solving day-to-day desktop related problems, hardware and software configuration issues, maintenance, repairs, equipment exchanges, moves and any special projects under direction of a project manager. He/she will build and configure PCs, load and troubleshoot applications, and handle day to day support calls. This person will be expected to work closely with the Business Units so they need to be extremely professional. Prior investments industry experience in a trading floor environment would be helpful. This person will be expected to handle high stress situations involving basic problem diagnosis and customer relations management. Daily Activities: This person will spend their day doing a variety of functions, including the following: ? PC Desktop and Laptop hardware configurations ? PC Desktop and Laptop hardware troubleshooting ? PC Software troubleshooting ? Moves/Adds/Changes ? PC Software installations ? Testing of applications ? PC OS builds Familiarity with general networking and server concepts, specifically TCP/IP and Windows NT Server is useful. Basic knowledge of financial and market data applications and Blackberrys is REQUIRED. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of direct desktop support experience, preferably in the Financial Services Industry. They must be familiar with all general aspects the following: ? Windows 2000 ? Ms Office ? MS Outlook ? Market data apps a plus (Bloomberg, Reuters, Thompson, Factset?) ? Strong troubleshooting skills ? Strong ability to pick up concepts quickly ?
