Manager of Reporting & Analysis in BOSTON, MA

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: ? Responsible for all reporting development and support. Able to be proactive in identifying issues and looking for ways to streamline processes. ? Responsible for managing all reporting lights on activities. ? Manage the Request database, distributing tasks for lights on activities. Assigning resources as required. ? Assume lead responsibility and/or technical hands on support for department development activities as requested. ? Provide support to large IT projects that include data mapping, conversions and development. ? Develop collaborative working relationships with all business partners / departments. ? Work collaboratively with internal and external staff to achieve strategic goals and with the Director of Reporting to develop approaches in support of the business units information needs. ? Possess deep knowledge of all aspects of the system development life cycle. ? Adhere to software development documentation standards. ? Support application development activities by developing test plans and executing tests, gaining technical and end user sign off. ? Support the management of relevant vendor relationships, working with vendors to resolve issues, implement upgrades and add new features. ? Coordinate with infrastructure to ensure smooth operations and business results. ? Participate in the implementation of new enterprise applications, as applicable. ? Responsible for representing reporting at change control and ensuring that all scheduled releases have gone through an adequate test process and are documented before going to change control. ? Meet regularly with Director of Reporting to escalate issues, report status of Reporting requests and identify opportunities for improvements. ? Develop application management processes and standard operating procedures, and ensure established procedures are followed in support of the reporting applications. ? Participate in the preparation and management of capital and operating budgets, including identification of the specifications and requirements for servers and computer needs for the IT department. ? Be viewed as an expert in the business intelligence / data warehouse / reporting & analysis areas. ? Possess knowledge of the business and business processes. Understand how analytical needs support business processes and proactively apply this knowledge to solve business problems. ? Supervise and manage the team and direct all day-to-day activities of that team. Oversee contractors if applicable. ? Promote a positive team environment within IT. ? Deliver timely performance evaluations, provide career development, and ensure execution of performance plans. ? Hire new staff as required, and build a strong team environment through communication and knowledge sharing. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education: Bachelor?s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience. Experience: ? 5 plus years of Business Intelligence, Decision Support, Reporting & Analysis experience ? 3 to 5 years management or technical lead experience; ability to manage a team of IT professionals Preferred Skills/Qualifications: ? Technical leader with experience in Operational and Analytical Reporting. ? Experience with various reporting toolsets, SQL Server, Data Warehouse, OLAP. ? Experience in project management and systems development life cycle methodologies. ? Experience in data modeling and design. ? Experience as a team player that plans and executes to meet deadlines, while promoting a positive work environment. ? Ability to be impartial and apply the methodology established by Information Technology leadership to evaluate the business needs as they relate to ROI and resource needs from both IT and the business units. A working knowledge Data Warehouse methodologies ? Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to work collaboratively with all business units ? Excellent written skills, including experience with use case and technical documentation, following software development life cycle documentation requirements. ? Solid people-management, planning, and organizational skills required. Ability to provide structure and support to staff. ? Ability to work as part of a collaborative team environment and motivate a team. ? Ability to interact with and influence cross-functionally at all levels of the organization.
