NOTE: NO THIRD PARTY CANDIDATE PLEASE Location MA Duration 6 months - 12 months Duties and Responsibilities: Web Software Developer, Java/PHP, works as a hands-on developer building web-based applications, while working individually and as a member of a team. Work includes clarifying business requirements, developing technical scope, writing technical documentation, coding components, writing scripts, defining back-end database needs (definition and schemas), testing, implementation, and maintenance. Implement applications and websites, evaluate and integrate 3rd-party components and services, and employ a variety of approaches and technologies. Self-directed IT professional who will help clients conduct, and transact business on the Web. Equally adept and enthused about working with either Java or PHP, small, and more complex/dynamic websites, running applications. Will report to Mgr., Web & Software Development, Website Development Services. Required Education, Experience and Skills: B.S. in computer science, or equivalent development & technology experience. 3+ years progressive, hands-on engineering success. Experience with object-oriented design and architectural practices, and building and maintaining static and database-driven websites, in a large organization. Very strong Java coding skills (J2EE, frameworks including Struts, JSP, servlets, beans) on the UNIX (Solaris) platform, employing WebLogic application server, Apache, XML/XSLT, HTML, DHTML, and JavaScript. Advanced understanding of database structures, Oracle 8 and above, and SQL. Background with leading IDE?s, HTML, and text editors. Experience in full, life-cycle development efforts, leading approaches and methodologies (Agile/Extreme, RUP), and excellent application specification and documentation skills. Experience with CSS, SSI, and modular design, where content is separate from business logic, scripts, and code. Solid organizational skills, strong writing and communication abilities, a concern for accuracy, details, and quality. Ability to work effectively with non-technical clients and business partners. Experience with Tomcat, Hibernate, JavaServer Faces, Alfresco, Portals, WSRP1.1/2.0 compliant Portlets (JSR 168), MySQL, and MS-Project a plus. Additional Web Position Listing: Knowledge of project management processes, blogs, Wiki, social-bookmarking/mobility tools (del.icio.us)/emerging collaborative technologies, information design and architecture, visual design, graphic arts, Adobe and Macromedia tools, graphic arts/design, business operations and/or management skills, and advanced Microsoft Office skills a plus. Must demonstrate commitment and enthusiasm toward the exciting work of building web solutions for clients, and finding the right technical approach to business challenges.
