Lead Market Data Service Systems Administrator in Boston, MA

You will be responsible for the current management and future strategy of our Market Data Services support and delivery. This role reports to the Manager of Client Technology Services. You will direct the Enterprise Technology's Market Data Services team in leading, identifying, architecting, and resolving technical problems, vendor management, and strategic infrastructure initiatives associated with our Market Data Services delivery.


Duties/Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic technical management and support of the vendor network and servers associated with our Market Data Services infrastructure

  • Staff management and direct oversight of the technical MDS team including: developing and presenting staff reviews, career development, and staff issues

  • Planning, validation, implementation, and support of high impact, high company investment, mission critical projects in unstructured environments

  • Effectively manage internal client needs and expectations, ensuring issues are identified, resolved or escalated quickly and appropriately

  • Analyze and identify areas of improvement related to technologies that will lead to value added benefit to our Market Data Services infrastructure

  • Effectively manage the delivery and technical support activities associated with all Market Data Services. This includes the services of several key vendors such as Reuters, Bloomberg, Thompson, Factset, and others

  • Provide upgrade path recommendations for routers, servers, switches and vendor provided circuits to improve service levels

  • Analyze problems, identify the cause of the problem, implement a timely solution and develop a corrective action plan to eliminate recurrence

  • Share 24x7 on-call responsibilities

  • Some travel may be required

Required Background/Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Business Management
10+ years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified including the ability to develop and implement a strategic framework for Market Data Services
5+ years experience supervising a team of market data administrators including the delivery of performance reviews, hiring, and termination
Direct experience managing Market Data Services architectures and technical relationships with vendors such as Reuters, Thompson, and Bloomberg
Project management experience
Track record of building strong relationships with clients and vendors
Solid understanding and deep appreciation of Market Data Services products, systems, and networking
Strong working knowledge of Unix, market data service products, and vendors of services, TCP/IP, routers, and network switches
Proven track record and ability to deliver in a global environment
Strong project management skills including: formal status reports, project plans, and regular communications to the technology teams and business
Strong client support skills, clear and regular communications and status updates Experience with extensive relationship-management responsibilities
