Network Administrator in Boston, MA

Our client, a growing Non-Profit which focuses on the education of middle school children through after-school education programs is hiring a Network Administrator.

Headquarter in Boston our client has multiple locations/campuses throughout the US with over 100 remote users. The Network Administrator will be the project lead in evaluating and shoring up their network, hardware and software infrastructure, processes and procedures.

Network Administrator requires a versatile and hands-on individual with extensive experience configuring and managing networks, setting up and troubleshooting PCs/laptops, evaluating hardware and software needs enterprise-wide and for groups of users and creating comprehensive, easy to understand documentation of key processes and procedures for both technology staff and end users.

Experience: Responsibilities:
&#149; Reconfigure Client's current server/application configuration in conjunction with their third party server management and helpdesk support provider
&#149; Migrate shares/permissions/printers to new server
&#149; Determine server configuration for all applications (financial, fundraising, program, intranet, internet, other)
&#149; Manage communication with end-users, both local and remote, for all changes

Evaluate, clean up/reorganize Active Directory configuration in conjunction with their third party server management and helpdesk support provider
&#149; Review/refine/reorganize domain architecture (domains, objects, groups, policies, permissions)
&#149; Evaluate user profile setup in the context of Client's current operating environment (e.g., roaming profiles/group policies)

Design and/or document IT processes, procedures and instructional/technical support materials
&#149; Design and document escalation procedures amongst the Client's technology staff and outsource server management and helpdesk provider
&#149; Evaluate/refine and document desktop/laptop setup (imaging) and troubleshooting procedures
&#149; Evaluate/refine and document technology environment (connectivity, hardware/software) for each of the Client's site
&#149; Evaluate/refine and document backup tape procedures
&#149; Design a model file structure and governance process for network files
&#149; Refine new hire technology orientation on Outlook and equipment

Evaluate and advise the Client on hardware and software needs
&#149; Update/assess hardware inventory (desktops, laptops, printers, servers, etc. sufficient to meet current and future needs)
&#149; Evaluate/refine hardware/software configuration on desktops and laptops to ensure optimal performance)
&#149; Evaluate software compliance/assurance
&#149; Evaluate hardware insurance on desktops, laptops, servers

Advise, coach and train Client's technology staff
&#149; Advise Client on the long-term structure of the technology department
&#149; Train technology staff on critical network tasks (Active Directory, desktop/laptop setup and troubleshooting procedures, backup, etc.)
&#149; Coach Technology Specialist on IT best practices
&#149; Assess network risk and propose solutions to eliminate or mitigate
&#149; Identify network vulnerabilities and potential solutions
