Linux Systems Administrator in Boston, MA

LINUX Systems Administrator Opportunity!

Our nonprofit client is seeking a qualified candidate to who will focus on operational support/maintenance of their Linux systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Responsible for the administration of OES linux and Red Hat servers.
• Participate in the planning and implementation of new systems and upgrades to existing system
• Perform health checks and performance tuning
• Provide system administration for file, print, e-mail and application servers in a Linux and Windows environment.
• Maintain and plan deployment of Windows and Linux network servers as required. This will include hardware and software installations, upgrades, backups, troubleshooting and data restoration.
• Identify and independently deploy special projects and network implementations.
• Maintain, support and manage pertinent documentation for all enterprise hardware, including
• Dell Switches
• HP Blades, SAN and standalone servers
• Sonicwall Firewalls and
• Cisco routers.
• Assist in the training and Mentoring of Administrative staff

Experience: QUALIFICATIONS

&#149; Ability to work independently, take responsibility, and follow-through.
&#149; Ability to think independently, learn new skills quickly, and adapt to rapidly changing environments.
&#149; Five or more years of end-user support experience.
&#149; 3-5 years (or more) of server, LAN or WAN support experience.
&#149; At least 3-5 years of UNIX/Linux systems administration experience.
&#149; Proficient in OES Linux and Redhat administration, operation, hardware, OS and software installation and configuration.
&#149; Solid understanding of UNIX-based operating systems, OES Linux and Redhat; understand boot process and run levels, paging and swapping, inter-process communication, function of devices and device drivers and file system concepts
&#149; Proficient in Windows OS administration, maintenance, installation, configuration and fundamentals of Windows OS system security.
&#149; Working knowledge of TCP/IP networked environments; configuring network interfaces, routing table, and network troubleshooting.
&#149; Knowledge of Groupwise, HP Blades/ SAN a plus.
